Project Description
G. Hyatt Construction completed the development of 1849 Park, a multi-field athletic complex designed to support youth baseball and softball programs. The project provides high-quality recreational facilities, improved accessibility, and fully integrated site infrastructure for players, families, and the surrounding community.
Scope of Work
The project included construction of two lighted 225-foot baseball fields and one lighted 225-foot softball field, along with associated player amenities and site improvements. Work included large asphalt parking areas, concrete pedestrian walkways, batting cages, bullpens, covered playgrounds, and a restroom and concessions facility. A maintenance building was also constructed to support ongoing park operations.
Site development included grading, storm drainage systems, underground utilities, and supporting infrastructure to ensure long-term functionality and durability.
Key Features
All athletic fields and major site areas are supported by sports lighting systems designed to provide consistent illumination for evening play and extended use. Lighting was coordinated with electrical infrastructure and site layout to ensure efficient coverage and safe circulation throughout the complex.
Fields were constructed to provide consistent playing surfaces with proper drainage performance. Concrete pedestrian walkways improve accessibility between parking areas, buildings, and fields, while batting cages and bullpen areas offer dedicated warm-up and practice spaces separate from active play.
Parking areas accommodate peak event traffic while maintaining safe pedestrian routes to field entrances. Utility infrastructure includes water, sanitary sewer, electrical distribution, and storm drainage systems designed for reliability and ease of maintenance.
Challenges & Solutions
Construction required coordination of precise field grading tolerances, drainage systems, and underground utilities to achieve proper performance and long-term durability. Installation of sports lighting involved coordination of foundations, conduit routing, and electrical service to ensure reliable operation while minimizing conflicts with other site elements.
