Project Description
G. Hyatt Construction completed streetscape improvements along Main Street in Downtown Round Rock as part of the City’s Downtown Improvement Plan. The project enhanced pedestrian accessibility, improved public gathering spaces, and supported local businesses by creating functional and visually appealing streetscape features within the existing urban corridor.
A key component included the construction of multiple parklets within former angled parking spaces. These parklets provide shaded seating and dining areas, improving the pedestrian experience and helping activate the downtown environment.
Scope of Work
Work included reconstruction of both sides of Main Street, including utility relocation, paving improvements, sidewalk enhancements, installation of parklets, and associated site furnishings. Construction required careful coordination within an active downtown environment to maintain access for businesses and pedestrians throughout the project.
Parklet construction included structural deck systems, tree planting systems, and pedestrian hardscape improvements designed to integrate seamlessly with the existing streetscape.
Key Features
The project incorporates subgrade tree cell systems that promote healthy root growth while preventing soil compaction in high-traffic hardscape areas. Adjustable pedestal deck systems were used to accommodate varying grades and create level, accessible walking surfaces. Wood deck tile finishes provide a durable, visually appealing surface that enhances the character of the downtown corridor.
The parklets serve as a cost-effective demonstration of the City’s long-term downtown vision, offering flexible spaces that support outdoor seating, gathering, and community interaction.
